"Have yourself a soak in the bath!"
―Murakumo

Murakumo (むらくも, Murakumo) is a character in Rune Factory 5.

Until you are formally introduced to him, he is referred to as "High-Spirited Man" in dialogue.

Profile[]

Personality[]

A very jovial, somewhat careless, and self-sacrificing were-animal who runs Rigbarth's only inn. Cares deeply about others, and so tends to go overboard giving customers freebies due to his overwhelming desire to make them happy. Unfortunately, this means he often fails to make a profit. After meeting the protagonist, he learns to consider things from his patrons' point of view and starts thinking about how to improve his inn.

Appearance[]

Story[]

Murakumo is the younger brother of Misasagi and the uncle of Hina. He runs the only bathhouse in Rigbarth, the Blue Moon.

The protagonist meets Murakumo after being taken to Rigbarth by Lucy, Priscilla, and Hina.

Romance Stories[]

Event 1: Free Admission Day[]

The main character enters The Blue Moon to see that it is full of guests. Lucy and Priscilla are there, and they explain that Murakumo is hosting a free admission day to show appreciation for his customers.

The next day, a line of customers are standing outside the inn. It turns out that Murakumo is outside selling servings of his world famous Stamina Soup. The main character attempts to pay, but Murokumo refuses, saying that he's giving food out for free today.

The main character comes upon Cecil listening to two men talking near the wooden bridge. One of the men explains how he has been taking advantage of Murakumo's kindness and cheating him out of his money. The main character won't stand for this, and they approach the men. They demand that the men return Murakumo's money or suffer the consequences. The men, frightened by the threat, run directly to the inn.

When the main character enters The Blue Moon to ensure they do so, Murakumo comes up to them and tells them he knows what they did for him. He is very lighthearted about it, however, and thinks it's unlikely that something like this will happen again, much to the main character's dismay.

Event 2 [Minor Unnamed Event][]

This event requires completing the first romance event. You may have to wait a few days afterwards to trigger it.

The protagonist heads to the southeast hill near the beach and encounters Murakumo howling at the ocean. The protagonist, surprised, catches Murakumo's attention who casually greets him. Murakumo reveals he was pumping himself up in order to keep pursuing his dream to make his Inn the best in the continent. He reveals he feels like he's at a dead-end and wanted to pump himself up once again. Murakumo says his parents gave him the Inn a long time ago and he ran it into the ground; he won't fail again. The protagonist encourages Murakumo, much to his delight.

Event 3: Time to Settle This[]

While walking near the Bridge of Hope, the player spots Murakumo acting as a judge for Lucy, Ryker and Beatrice's game of word wolf. When Beatrice uses the unusual word, "xiaopai", only Murakumo is able to identify the word, claiming it to be of foreign origin and referring to a sort of ritual.

The next day, the player spots him at the Great Tree Plaza after he spots Hina and Julian fighting over a plush toy. Murakumo initially decides to let both fight over the toy in the hopes that causing damage to it will cause them to stop. Unexpectedly, the two tear the toy apart by accident, and Murakumo declares their "contest" to be a draw and promises to make a new plush for each of the children.

Later on, the player finds a lost jewelry box and returns it back to SEED's lost and found, where there is a merchant who had just lost his box. Instead of simply taking the box, however, the merchant insists that the player had "stolen" one of the jewels and attempts to extort the player and Livia, but Murakumo overhears the conversation and butts in. Livia decides to allow Murakumo to act as a judge on the matter, and he decides that since the box technically had one jewel less than the merchant's claim, it could not have belonged to him and would remain in the lost and found until it is given to the player if no claimant comes. When the merchant tries to backtrack and claims that the jewelry box had the right amount of gems, Murakumo lashes out at the man for making a false accusation on the player. Ultimately, the player asks Murakumo to stop and returns the box, but gives a stern warning to the merchant not to pull off any similar scams the next time.

Afterwards, they thank Murakumo for stepping in during the situation.
