Welcome! Edit

Congratulations on starting Harvest Moon/Rune Factory Wiki! It's a brand new project, so it needs a lot of love. Here are five tips to make your wiki great.
  • It's all yours right now -- enjoy it! Once your wiki takes off, lots of people will read what you write. Right now, nobody's looking over your shoulder yet, so feel free to try things out and make mistakes.
  • Make lots of short pages! The hardest thing about writing is looking at a blank page and not knowing where to start. It's a lot easier once you write down your first couple sentences. So take a deep breath, and jump in -- make ten really short pages, one right after another. Once you've started, you can build the pages up slowly, adding a little bit at a time.
  • Link your pages together! Links help you and your readers get from one page to another, so whenever you mention the subject of another page, use the "Add a Link" button to make a link to that page. You should also use the front page to link to all of the most important pages on your wiki. Describe what your wiki is about on the main page, and include links to help your readers find their way around.
  • Add pictures! A well-chosen picture can make a bland wiki page come to life. When you're writing a page, use the "Add a Picture" button to upload a picture from your computer onto the page.
  • When you're ready -- tell your friends! Once you've started a bunch of pages, linked them together and added some pictures, you'll be ready to start showing off your wiki to the world. You probably know people who are interested in the same thing that you are, so tell your friends to check out your new site. Those are your first readers and potential contributors, so give them lots of encouragement.

A good way to stay up-to-date with the latest news and events around Wikia is to visit our Staff blog. If at any time you get stuck, feel free to write to us through our contact form -- we're happy to help!

Have fun!

Adding copyright notices Edit

Dear mai is me,

I have uploaded 95 images for you with the right attribution. But i see you haven't attributed the images you have uploaded yourself with the correct licensing, sources and thus are officially violating Wikia's terms of use.

Do notice that it could make you part of trouble if you do not attribute pictures correctly. In the source of this page you can find out how to do it right, and here you can find more information.

Reply to your Wikia Support request Edit

Hello Mai Is Me,

I have changed your site name to "Rune Factory Wiki" as you requested ({{SITENAME}} = "Rune Factory Wiki"). Did you also want to change your URL.

Also, Wikia does not have a size limit for number of images on a wiki, so I wouldn't worry about that.

If you have any further replies (including to your URL question), please write on my talk page (much easier to find out if you've replied that way). Hope this helps! --daNASCAT WikiaStaff.png (help forum | blog) 17:02, December 12, 2011 (UTC)

Thanks 4 the chat, this whole thing is confusing! How do i do... well...stuff?

Request for help Edit

Hi Mai. I approved your request, and I'm here to follow up with you. If you've seen a main page layout that you like on another wiki, I can setup a similar layout here. For the navigation menu, I would first recommend reading over the help page at Help Wiki. If you still have any questions about the navigation or need help setting it up, I'll be happy to help. Just let me know. JoePlay WikiaStaff.png (talk) 17:17, December 19, 2011 (UTC)

Also, I just noticed that the dark green currently chosen as the color for links is very close to the black color of normal text, making it hard to see linked text. I would recommend adjusting the link color on the theme designer. JoePlay WikiaStaff.png (talk) 17:21, December 19, 2011 (UTC)

While the logo can only be up to 65 pixels tall, it can be up to 250 pixels wide, so I just uploaded a new logo with "Wiki" larger and appearing beside Rune Factory. Let me know if you want me to change it further.
For the background image, if you've seen any large images (around 1000x700 or larger) that you would like to be used, please link me to them.
For the main page, since this is a wiki about the Rune Factory game series, I would think that the games and characters are probably the most popular pages. So would you like having images for each of the games (that link to the pages of course) on a row, and a row under them with images for the main characters? Besides that, what other sections would you like to appear (such as Featured Article, News, Poll, etc.)? JoePlay WikiaStaff.png (talk) 22:05, December 19, 2011 (UTC)
Take a look at this preview. The right, left and bottom edges gradually fade to the current green background color. If you want to use a different color to fade to, let me know. If you like it as seen in the preview, I'll gladly upload it as the wiki's background. Just say the word. JoePlay WikiaStaff.png (talk) 23:11, December 19, 2011 (UTC)
I just uploaded the new background image. If you want it scroll with the page, just uncheck the box labelled "fix" on the theme designer. I'll start on the main page soon. JoePlay WikiaStaff.png (talk) 00:00, December 20, 2011 (UTC)
I updated the main page, so take a look when you get a chance. As you can see, there is some empty space on the left column. You could fill that space with something like a Featured Character or Featured Video section if you want. I created Template:Heading, so to make the heading for a new section, just enter {{Heading|Title}} and replace "Title" with the title of the section. I'm glad I could help. When the wiki reaches 200 pages, I would recommend requesting a spotlight, which you can do here. Wendy handles those requests. Keep up the good work! JoePlay WikiaStaff.png (talk) 22:48, December 21, 2011 (UTC)

AST Help Edit

Hey Mai is Me! AST is going to help you with: Basics, Templates/Infoboxes, SEO, Theming, Education, Community as you asked for in the survey. One of the team members will be in touch to make a time to chat and to discuss what you specifically need help with. Thanks for asking for help! --Meighan WikiaStaff.png (help forum | blog) 21:17, January 20, 2012 (UTC)

Hey there. I helped you a little bit a month ago with uploading some pictures. It looks like you're got a great wiki started with a lot of potential, and a chance for a growing editor base. First though, can you tell me why there are two separate wikis for Rune Factory? Do they have different niches? Cook Me Plox 21:52, January 20, 2012 (UTC)
Hi Mai,
Let's get down to business. Are there any particular templates you'd like to create or rework? It looks like a lot of your articles are for characters, so you could turn a lot of that information into an infobox with some cells.
You have a pretty good-looking front-page...is there anything in particular you would like to change?
This wiki, unfortunately, is not currently very high up on the Google rankings for hte topic searches. A lot of this is because there are at least three other Rune Factory or Harvest Moon wikis on Wikia, and Google is mostly displaying the results for one of them and ignoring the others. I don't completely understand the difference between all the HM games and why there are so many different wikis, but I would really encourage you, if at all possible, to work together with the people on the other wikis. In my experience, there's only so much a single person can do to make a wiki successful, no matter how hard they work and how committed they are. You could form a very strong community by cooperating with the other wikis, some of which already have a small but growing editor base. I'll of course do everything I can for you no matter what you decide, but that's my number one recommendation for making a stronger community.
If there's anything else I can help with, please ask. Cook Me Plox 01:08, January 25, 2012 (UTC)
Okay, can you tell me what parameters you had in mind for the template? Are there any infoboxes on other wikis that have a similar format to what you'd like? Cook Me Plox 01:24, January 25, 2012 (UTC)
That looks pretty great. What else do you want to see from that template, or other templates? We could hide certain parameters if they're not defined, or add new ones, or change how it looks. Are there other major categories of pages that could use an infobox, or any other type of template?
I'd love to chat with you at some point but I have to leave pretty soon. Cook Me Plox 06:55, January 25, 2012 (UTC)
I think I follow -- you don't want to include one of the cells in one of the character's page? We can do it so if birthday isn't defined, it doesn't show up at all on the template. Cook Me Plox 07:05, January 25, 2012 (UTC)

Spotlight Request Edit

Hi. I apologize for the delay in answering your request. Rune Factory Wiki looks really nice. The front page has great navigation, but could you please add at least one image? Also, you would need to customize your Community Corner. Please let me know when you have made the changes and I will be happy to add the wiki to the approved spotlight list. -- Wendy (talk)@fandom 02:36, January 26, 2012 (UTC)
